Brussels – Paris Trenleri Hakkında Bilmeniz Gerekenler

Two Operators: Eurostar High-Speed vs OUIGO Budget

This route offers two distinct options. Eurostar runs up to 22 direct trains daily at up to 300 km/h, covering the distance in just 1 hour 22 minutes with no intermediate stops. OUIGO (launched December 2024 on this route) offers 3 daily trains via the classic route through Mons at up to 200 km/h, taking approximately 2 hours 53 minutes. OUIGO fares start from just €10, making it the budget-friendly alternative.

OUIGO Brussels–Paris: Europe’s Newest Budget Rail Service

Since 19 December 2024, OUIGO Train Classique operates 3 daily return services between Brussels-Midi and Paris-Nord via the classic (non-high-speed) railway line. Unlike Eurostar, OUIGO uses the scenic route through northern France and Wallonia, calling at Mons, Aulnoye-Aymeries, and Creil. Fares range from €10 to €59 maximum per ticket. No catering on board — bring your own food and drink.

One of Europe’s Fastest City-to-City Connections

At 1 hour 22 minutes for 309 km, the Brussels–Paris Eurostar is one of the fastest international train services in Europe. Trains use two dedicated high-speed lines: Belgium’s HSL 1 (88 km, opened 1997) and France’s LGV Nord (333 km, opened 1993), both engineered for 300 km/h. The entire journey is non-stop — you leave Brussels city centre and arrive in central Paris without a single intermediate stop.

No Passport Required, But Carry ID

Belgium and France are both in the Schengen Area, so there are no border controls. Unlike Eurostar services to London, there is no security screening or passport check on the Brussels–Paris route. However, Eurostar advises carrying a valid identity document as customs officials may conduct random spot checks. Arrive 20 minutes before departure.

Brussels-Midi to Paris Gare du Nord: City Centre to City Centre

Both Eurostar and OUIGO operate from Brussels-Midi/Zuid to Paris Gare du Nord. Brussels-Midi is connected by metro, tram and local SNCB trains. Paris Gare du Nord is one of Paris’ best-connected stations, with direct metro lines 4 and 5, RER B (to CDG Airport), RER D, and the Gare de l’Est just a 10-minute walk away for onward connections.

Belgium’s First High-Speed Line: HSL 1

The Belgian HSL 1, connecting Brussels to the French border, was Belgium’s first dedicated high-speed railway. Opened in December 1997, it runs 88 km through Wallonia with 71 km of purpose-built 300 km/h track. Engineering highlights include the 2 km Arbre Viaduct — one of Europe’s longest rail viaducts — spanning the Dender river valley near Ath.

Connection Hub: Brussels-Midi Station

Brussels-Midi is Belgium’s main international rail hub. From here, you can connect to London (Eurostar, 1h 51m), Amsterdam (Eurostar, 1h 50m), Cologne (Eurostar, 1h 50m), and Frankfurt (ICE, 2h 58m). SNCB domestic trains connect to all Belgian cities. The station offers shops, cafés, luggage lockers and Eurostar lounge access for Premier class passengers.

Booking Windows and Fare Tips

Eurostar tickets open 4-11 months before travel depending on season. Standard fares start from €29, Plus from €55, and Premier from €115. The cheapest Eurostar fares sell out quickly — book as soon as tickets open. For last-minute travel, OUIGO can save you significant money: while a same-day Eurostar may cost €100+, OUIGO’s maximum fare is capped at €59.

Sık Sorulan Sorular: Brussels – Paris

The fastest Eurostar takes 1 hour 22 minutes from Brussels-Midi to Paris Gare du Nord, with no intermediate stops. OUIGO trains take approximately 2 hours 53 minutes via the classic route with stops at Mons, Aulnoye and Creil. Most Eurostar services complete the journey in 1 hour 22 to 1 hour 27 minutes.

OUIGO offers the cheapest fares, starting from €10 per person one way, with a maximum fare of €59. Eurostar Standard class starts from €29 when booked well in advance. Booking early is essential for the lowest prices on both operators.

There are approximately 22 Eurostar services per day plus 3 OUIGO services, totalling around 25 direct trains daily. The first Eurostar departs around 06:43 and the last around 21:54. OUIGO operates 3 departures per day in each direction.

No passport is required. Both Belgium and France are in the Schengen Area with no routine border controls. However, Eurostar recommends carrying a valid identity document as customs may conduct random spot checks. Unlike London routes, there is no security screening.

Eurostar is the high-speed option: 1h 22m, up to 300 km/h, three travel classes, WiFi, café-bar, from €29. OUIGO is the budget option: ~3 hours via the classic route, one class only, no catering (bring your own), from €10. Both depart from Brussels-Midi and arrive at Paris Gare du Nord.

All trains depart from Brussels-Midi/Zuid (also called Brussel Zuid or Brussels South) and arrive at Paris Gare du Nord. Both stations are centrally located with excellent metro and public transport connections.

Yes. Paris Gare du Nord has direct metro connections to all six Paris stations. The Gare de l’Est (for Strasbourg, Luxembourg) is a 10-minute walk. Gare de Lyon (for Lyon, Marseille, Nice) and Gare Montparnasse (for Bordeaux, Nantes) are reachable by metro in 20-30 minutes.

No. OUIGO Brussels–Paris is marketed as ‘OUIGO Train Classique’ and uses conventional locomotive-hauled coaches, not high-speed TGV trainsets. It runs on the classic railway line via Mons at up to 200 km/h, not on the high-speed line. The service launched on 19 December 2024 as a joint SNCF/SNCB venture.
