About Italo
Italo is Italy's first private high-speed rail operator, launched in 2012 by Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori (NTV). Owned by the GIP-Brookfield consortium since 2018, Italo has grown to serve over 60 cities across Italy with a fleet of 51 trains. The company operates two train types: the iconic AGV 575 (the fastest automotrice in Europe at 300 km/h) and the newer EVO (ETR 675) Pendolino trains at 250 km/h.
Italo connects major Italian cities including Rome, Milan, Florence, Naples, Venice, Turin, and Bologna on dedicated high-speed lines, with extensions to smaller cities like Salerno, Reggio Emilia, and Brescia. The service is known for its competitive pricing, modern onboard experience, and four travel classes: Smart, Comfort, Prima, and the exclusive Club Executive.
Unlike Trenitalia, Italo is a purely private operator focused exclusively on high-speed and intercity services within Italy. The company has carried over 100 million passengers since launch and operates approximately 118 daily services. All trains feature free WiFi, power sockets, and the Italo Live entertainment portal with movies, TV series, and news.
