About PKP IC

PKP Intercity is Poland's national long-distance passenger rail operator, connecting major cities across the country and running international services to Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Croatia. Founded in 2001 as part of the restructuring of Polish State Railways (PKP), the company is headquartered in Warsaw and operates Central Europe's fastest trains — the Alstom Pendolino ED250, branded as Express InterCity Premium (EIP), reaching 200 km/h on the upgraded CMK high-speed line.

PKP Intercity offers a range of service tiers to suit every budget. At the top end, the EIP Pendolino provides a high-speed, airline-style experience with complimentary drinks in all classes and a full meal in 1st Class. Express InterCity (EIC) and EuroCity (EC) trains use modern coaches and EMUs for long-distance domestic and international routes, featuring the iconic Wars restaurant car serving traditional Polish cuisine. InterCity (IC) and TLK services round out the network with affordable options reaching smaller cities and regional capitals.

The night train network is a particular highlight. The EuroNight Chopin runs nightly from Warsaw to Vienna and Munich, while the newer EuroNight Carpatia (launched December 2025) connects Przemyśl with Vienna, Budapest, and Munich. In summer, the Adriatic Express offers a direct sleeper from Warsaw to the Croatian coast. All sleeper services include breakfast and a choice of deluxe compartments with private shower and toilet, standard sleepers, or couchettes.

Booking Tips

EIP Tickets Required Before Boarding

Use Polish City Names When Searching

When searching on intercity.pl, use the Polish station names: Warszawa Centralna (Warsaw), Kraków Główny (Kraków), Gdańsk Główny (Gdańsk), Wrocław Główny (Wrocław). EuroTrain automatically handles this for you.

Order Food via mWARS App

On trains with a Wars restaurant car, you can order food directly to your seat using the mWARS mobile app. The Wars restaurant car is a Polish rail institution — try the traditional Polish dishes, freshly prepared on board.

Night Train to Vienna or Munich

The EuroNight Chopin departs Warsaw every evening for Vienna and Munich. Book a deluxe sleeper for a private compartment with shower and toilet, or a couchette for a budget-friendly overnight option. Breakfast is included.

Alcohol Only in Restaurant/Bar Cars

Polish railway regulations require that alcohol is consumed only in the restaurant or bar car, not at your seat. The Wars restaurant car and EIP bar car serve beer, wine, and spirits.
