Route Overview

Travel from Brussels to Cologne by high-speed Eurostar in just 1 hour 50 minutes. This Continental Eurostar service — formerly Thalys — runs red TGV PBKA trains at up to 300 km/h, with 5 direct departures daily from Brussels Midi/Zuid to Köln Hbf. DB ICE trains provide additional hourly alternatives on the same route.

The route passes through the architecturally striking Liège Guillemins station (designed by Santiago Calatrava) and Aachen — Charlemagne’s historic capital and the first German stop. The HSL 3 high-speed line between Liège and Aachen (opened December 2009) shortened the journey by 19 minutes.

Unlike London-bound Eurostar trains that depart from the same station with passport and security checks, Continental Eurostar services require no check-in at all. Walk to platforms 3–6, find your seat, and go. Three classes available: Standard (from €19), Plus (from €49), and Premier (from €135).
